World Record Holder Vasileva arrives at VakıfBank

VakıfBank without doubt has become the star team during the transfer season; the final external transfer has been carried out by adding the Bulgarian World Record holder Elitsa Vasileva to the team. The successful player displayed a record by scoring 57 times in one game while playing at her previous team Heungkuk Life in South Korea.


VakıfBank’s recent World star external transfers included Sheilla Castro, Robin de Kruijf, Milena Rasic and the fourth transfer is now completed by adding the Bulgarian star Elitsa Vasileva to the team. The 1990 born, world record holder is 194cm tall and plays as a spiker. The successful player will wear the yellow-black team jersey for this season. 


The Bulgarian player first her career playing for CSKA Sofia and continued her career playing for Esperia Cremona, Sirio Perugia and Volley Bergamo teams in Italy.  The spiker then transferred from Europe to South America to play at Campinas in Brazil and later the record holder moved to South Korea to play at Heungkuk Life. Vasileva has experienced Championships both in Bulgaria and Italy, also gaining the Italian Super Cup Championship.  While playing at Heungkuk Life, the successful player held a world record in scoring 57 points in one game.


Vasileva expressed how happy she was as she will wear VakıfBank’s jersey for the upcoming seasons adding ‘’ It is really nice to be here in Turkey. I still cannot believe I am here and will be here for the whole season. It is like a dream come true’’. The star also added that she is ready to compete, and if the team displays their potential on court, there is no team they cannot win. The star also said ‘’ Naz and Gözde from VakıfBank are the two Turkish players that have always impressed me and it is going to be a pleasure to play together with them.’’
